About Us
Brent Todd
I am a huge Disney fan, as evident by my Disney tattoo sleeve that features Jafar, Stitch, the Genie’s lamp and Dopey. I am perfectly Dopey in the runDisney world, though it really is something “dopey” to be proud of and I am almost embarrassed by that stat at this point in time. I have been on the Disney Magic, Wonder, Fantasy, Dream and Wish with a planned trip on the Treasure in 2025. My family consists of my wife and my two amazing kids.
I ran my first Facebook group in 2020. Yes, that year. It was for a sailing in 2021 and wow talk about being thrown into the deep end. Prior to that group, I have always been an active member in the Facebook groups of our sailings; either asking questions or providing feedback.
With the stress of the “are we or aren’t we sailing” I saw first hand many groups run in ways that were not always best practices. I was in a cancelled sailing group that was not very friendly to those of us that were on a rescheduled due to an early cancelation and I vowed then that I would never be in a group that was run like that ever again. And so I decided to run my first group.
But there is no blueprint on how to run a Facebook group for a sailing. I checked the DisBoards, but they had recently banned even mentioning Facebook groups and there really was no guide. The spark was put in me to create this website, but I didn’t act on it. I was too busy teaching myself what to do.
That group ended up with over 50% of the entire guests on board due to the reduced sailing numbers in 2021. I learned a lot about what makes a cruise group fun for not just me, but for other guests. I made a lot of friends from that sailing, and several people still swear it is “their favorite Facebook group” to this day.
After that group I decided I needed a new “challenge” since we were no longer impacted by a global virus and took on the challenge of running back to back groups! Again I learned a lot with those groups, especially things that worked more than others. That spark grew a bit more and I bought the domain, but I didn’t do anything with it for nearly a year.
Now as I am co-managing a sailing for 2024 and running a group for a sailing in 2025, I knew I needed to make this resource. I state in every group that I learn something new each sailing, and even after 11 sailings I can continue to say that. I don’t think I will ever say I am an expert at this, but I hope to at least provide you with the tools to take the leap into running your own group.
I love to meet people on each sailing and have a drink with them. My favorite activity is setting up a pub crawl on each ship.
